Eddie “The Laminator” Langla reports:

From the early 1960s to the mid-1970s, Vasiukov scored wins in individual games over many top Soviet players, such as Smyslov, Bronstein, Tigran Petrosian, Mikhail Tal, Paul Keres, Mark Taimanov, Efim Geller, and Lev Polugaevsky.

He was unable to defeat top-ranking Soviet stars such as Viktor Korchnoi, Anatoly Karpov, Spassky, or Stein.

Guy was a think tank …

Evgeni Vasiukov vs Mark Taimanov (1954)
His win over Taimanov is amazing as he crushes Black’s Cordell Defense with a quick 0-0, not 4. c3

Equally fun was where he beats Taimanov’s Sicilian with a g3 System that interests the hell out of me …

Note the backwardwardness of Taimanov’s knights in this game.

Mr. Eddie “The Laminator” Langla and Mr. Kevin “Cowboy” Apper recently played “blindfolded” against Will “The Sculptor” and The Marilyn of New Orleans. Langla lost on an illegal move against Will and Apper won against The Marilyn.
