CHESSFLASH WORLD NEWS/April 14, 2014

World Champion Carlsen plays the Vugar Gashimov Memorial 6 grandmaster tourney / Azerbaijan April 20-30,2014 ... it is going to be a memorial to remember all right … the 27 year old Gashimov (who died of a brain tumor) personally knew all the world class young players going at it for 10 games/2 hours for 60 moves with the rest in 15 minutes with 30 seconds added at move 61 on. CARLSEN ELO 2882 (WORLD CHAMPION), CARUANA 2783, NAKAMURA 2772, KARJAKIN 2770. MAMEDYAROV 2760, RADJABOV 2713 … CHESSLAB NOTE: the tourney is the future for big money chess … just allow one hour for the entire game instead and have each player play once with white and black each day … 20 games in 10 days, all rated with the new short time controls of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) and presto you have it … make 3 points if you win, one point only for a tie-draw …The already instituted demands by top organizers you do not need to worry about … no “grandmaster draws“ are ever allowed at this cash level. Play chess … or else you will be on the next plane out. Soon no top player will ever be allowed to leave the board during play for one second during the entire game. Short time controls must come … consultation with man and computer is thus 99 percent eliminated … heaven sent for both referee and spectator.
